To Ann Pedersen, huntress and our brand ambassador from Denmark, hunting is a unique activity that is full of excitement and adrenaline and, at the same time, gives her peace of mind. Her philosophy is equal parts simple and intriguing: ”I always go hunting with the thought that I probably won’t get anything home for the freezer unless I’m very lucky, and when I succeed, my brain overflows with gratitude for the work that has been put in it.” So, to get to know her better, we invited Ann to share her hunting favorites with us. Have a look!
I love hunting wild boar, it’s the best thing I know. Sitting out in the woods at night is so amazing. On a more general note, hunting for me is my freedom and chance to relax and really sit in the moment and enjoy the silence with the birds singing in the background. It gives me peace of mind and a place where my thoughts are not on a busy day at work.
I have chosen hunting because it captured me that the animals I have to kill and eat for my livelihood have lived a good and free life without unnecessary stress and hustle. And then, I just love to be out in nature. Hunting is so much more than just pulling the trigger. It’s friendships, people who share the same passion as me. And I will never, ever be without it.
Type of hunt: Sometimes, at home in Denmark, when I sleep, I dream of going wild boar hunting with friends in Sweden – so, I guess that would be my favorite hunts. I have also hunted there with Stefan Orman – a fellow Pulsar ambassador – and that was wonderful, too.
Location: The best place I love to go is Sweden – the beautiful large forests and the wild nature there are very special and unique. But Denmark has some amazing places too!
Time of the year: All hunting seasons are special! I love to go out exploring. And see how the wildlife is living, following the changes of nature depending on the hunting time.
Animal to hunt: I love hunting wild boar, which probably won’t come as a big shock to many. But fox hunting is also something I find very exciting.
Game to eat: I love to eat fallow deer, it’s the best! But barbecued wild boar is also really delicious!
Gear to use: Pulsar night and thermal vision equipment. In my opinion, it is the best on the market, you can always count on it, and if there is any damage or anything else with the equipment, the Pulsar team is ready to help fix it.
Pulsar device: Thermion 2 XP50 Pro – I LOVE IT! The best for night hunting!
Being part of the Pulsar team is really special! You feel like a member of a big loving family – a family where everyone helps each other if needed! You can always get support and help.
Way to practice: I practice on the shooting range, so I am ready for future hunts in the field.
Challenge when hunting: Forest hunting is challenging, you never know what stands behind the next tree or bush. And I LOVE it! In addition, it can be difficult to judge distance at night, even with night equipment – therefore, it is very nice if the equipment can measure distances.
Media to get news about shooting/hunting: I use Instagram to get news, and otherwise, the Danish or English hunting magazines. The content I read in them differs a lot. I also watch a lot of hunting videos – preferably on YouTube.
