We all know how difficult it can be to spot wild animals. They move quietly, stay hidden, and often disappear before you notice them. That’s where the Merger LRF XP35 proves its worth.
Thanks to its advanced thermal sensitivity and wide field of view, the Merger can detect heat signatures through bushes, branches, and in low-light conditions. For hunters, this means more time to react and prepare, and the opportunity to observe with greater clarity and calm.
The first thing that an experienced German huntress, Theresa Anheuser, pointed out about the Merger LRF XP35 was its very wide field of view (17.8°). “I personally find this feature very important as you should also be able to see the landscape around the animal as there may be other animals in the area,” she says.
For hunters, this means faster detection and more strategic decision-making. The wide view also allows for smoother tracking without needing to constantly reposition or shift the device to keep the target in sight.
Also equipped with a highly sensitive European-made 17 μm 640×480 thermal sensor, the Merger delivers sharp images even in tough conditions. “I’ve noticed it makes a difference in heavy fog or rain,” Theresa says. Whether you’re deep in the woods or scanning open fields, the Merger offers clear visibility and reliable performance – ensuring you never miss a moment, no matter the weather.
The Merger LRF XP35 features the classic design of daytime binoculars — a style that makes a big difference during long observation sessions in the field. “The design allows you to support yourself with both elbows and hold the Merger steadily with both hands, especially when you’re in a high seat,” says Theresa. Holding it with both hands makes it steadier, and looking through both eyepieces helps reduce eye strain.
She also notes how comfortably the device hangs around the neck, thanks to its well-balanced weight. “It’s much more comfortable than a device you can only look through with one eye,” she explains. Combined with its compact form and intuitive button layout, the Merger is built for comfort even on long days outdoors.
Whether you’re tracking wildlife or simply taking in the sights, the Merger ensures you’re always powered up for the adventure. The dual battery system enhances its usability, providing long-lasting power for extended observation. “As you know, the Merger has two batteries. One is built into the device and the second can be removed,” Theresa explains. She shared that she’s often been out in the forest for 6 to 7 hours at night, even in sub-zero temperatures, and still had a good battery level. “If you’re only watching and maybe taking the odd photo or video, you’ll be able to spend hours with it.”
Theresa quickly became a fan of the Merger LRF XP35’s built-in laser rangefinder, calling it an essential tool for both observation and hunting. “I wouldn’t want to be without it!” she says. The rangefinder measures the exact distance to a target, which is especially valuable in wide open areas where judging distance can be tricky.
Its usefulness becomes even more apparent at night. “In the dark, it’s hard to estimate distances, especially in open meadows. In forests, you can use trees as landmarks, but out in the open, it’s much harder,” Theresa explains. Having accurate distance measurements helps hunters plan their approach more carefully and feel more confident and safe in the field. The rangefinder is an essential tool for anyone who needs to know their exact distance – whether for taking a precise shot or moving quietly through the terrain.
When it comes to observing nature, Theresa finds several additional features of the Merger LRF XP35 especially useful. She highlighted the Wi-Fi function as particularly practical, as it allows quick access to photos and videos: “This seems very practical to me if you have the Merger mounted on a tripod, for example, and don’t want to be holding it all the time,” she explains.
Theresa also values the wide range of the color palettes. She prefers the green mode in dense terrain because “it makes the signature of an animal stand out better and more clearly between many branches or bushes.” The variety of color options allows users to choose the best setting for different environments. As she sums it up: “With the large selection of colors, everyone will find the best setting for themselves.”
Finally, whether you’re a hunter, wildlife observer, or outdoor enthusiast, the Merger LRF XP35 empowers you to see more, respond with confidence, and immerse yourself deeper in the wild — enhancing your connection with nature every step of the way.
