Pulsar Brand Ambassadors

After an energizing spring and a slow summer, it is finally time for fall. For some of us, it will be back to school or the office. For our ambassadors, it’s back to hunting. And since forests and fields are way more appealing than glass walls in the middle of the city, let’s focus on the former. Make yourself a cup of tea and join us for a conversation about getting ready for fall with our brand ambassadors: Julia Nowak from Poland, Alexandre Miliàn from France, Kevin Murphy from the UK, Andrea Lysvold from Norway, and Ann Pedersen from Denmark.

Interview

What are you looking forward to this fall?

Julia: For many hunters in Poland (including me), the beginning of autumn is special because it is the red deer rut time, and you can listen to beautiful concerts of stags roaring around and observe them fighting with each other and chasing hinds. It is, of course, also the time when you have a chance to find and hunt down your dream stag.

Then later, if you think “autumn”, you also think “driven hunt season”, and this is also the time which many hunters are looking forward to. It’s great to meet with other people that share the same passion, talk, hunt and have a nice time together.

So, this is something that I was usually mostly looking forward to when thinking about fall, but this year is slightly different because I have decided to do my last year of Master’s studies in Northern Sweden and as there is a students’ hunting association, I am really hoping to join it. I am very much looking forward to moose hunting in Sweden this autumn.

Kevin: I like how the surrounding landscape changes! It makes hunting slightly easier in terms of what’s visible with the crops being cut.

Andrea: I’m going on some trips abroad, and I’m looking forward to doing more wild boar hunting in Sweden. I have so much planned but not date-pinned yet… But my plan is to go on a lot of adventures and hunt in different countries in Europe this autumn.

Alexandre: I’m really looking forward to autumn for hunting waterfowl mainly. Overnight, there can be a big duck migration, and it’s really the phenomenon of migration that I like the most.

What is your favorite thing about hunting in the fall?

Ann: The sun rises later and sets earlier, the animals are more active because it is not quite as hot anymore, and there is a wider yield from hunting-related animals.

Kevin: The outdoors is a beautiful place to be in autumn. Much easier on the eye, so I’d have to say this would be a great reason to want to be outside.

Julia: Beautiful views. Forests look amazing when the leaves are changing colors. And also the red stags concerts during red deer rutting season, with meadows covered in autumn fog in the morning.

Andrea: I agree, the colors in the forest are so beautiful, so it’s a therapeutic experience to just walk in nature. And hearing the deer in their mating season is truly a very special experience.

What are your favorite Pulsar units for the season?

Alexandre: I will continue to test the Krypton XG50 as a monocular because it is very versatile and allows me to observe waterfowl and big game in all situations.

Kevin: My favorite currently is the Digex C50 as it’s such a versatile riflescope, fit for any situation, day or night. The Twilight function is mind-blowing and surprises me no matter how many times I see it. It makes it the best option for day and night hunting.

Julia: I think my favorite Pulsar device for autumn is Helion 2 XP50 PRO because I love observing and recording animals, and with its excellent image quality, I have a chance to record beautiful scenes when the light conditions are not good enough for my normal camera.

Andrea: I love the Thermion 2 XP50 PRO – it works for everything. I also prefer to use the Helion 2 XP50 PRO as a spotting device, but if I go stalking during the daytime, I bring the Axion 2 XQ38 LRF in case we have to do a search.

Interview

How do you prepare for the upcoming season?

Kevin: I like to visit all of my premises and re-assess the landscape as things can change very quickly with the vegetation changes. Knowing what you are heading into really gives you the edge, and there is less to be surprised about.

Julia: I buy some more ammunition, prepare warmer clothes and rubber shoes, as the weather in autumn is tricky. Also, clothes that have reflective elements are very important for safety during driven hunts. Additionally, it’s time to bring a thermos with good, warm tea.

Ann: I’m at the shooting range practicing to make better shots.

Andrea: Just like Ann, I prepare by doing a lot of shooting practice. Different weapons, calibers, and distances, depending on what I’m going to hunt. I also make sure my thermal is zeroed and ready for action. I check if I have the correct clothing and gear for my upcoming hunts.

Do you switch gear for autumn?

Andrea: It depends when and where I’m hunting. In the north of Norway, I can often use the same gear year round since it’s often quite cold and windy. If I’m going stalking, I use good camouflage, and if I’m sitting, I make sure to have clothes and gear to keep me warm for a long time.

I love the Thermion 2 XP50 PRO – it works for everything.

We're launching some new devices just in time for the fall – which one are you looking forward to trying the most?

Julia: I am mostly looking forward to trying the Merger LRF XP50 binoculars.

Kevin: It’s hard to pinpoint one device specifically as the innovations coming from Pulsar currently are impressive, but I’d have to say it’s the Thermion 2 XP50 LRF PRO and also the Talion XG35.

Alexandre: Like Julia, I would really like to try the Merger LRF XP50. It’s one of the novelties that really attracts me.

Andrea: Same, I’m really hyped to get my hands on the Merger LRF XP50!

Ann: Team Thermion here: I’m getting Thermion 2 XP50 LRF PRO home soon!

Alexandre Miliàn

In autumn, there can be a big duck migration overnight, and it's really the phenomenon of migration that I like the most.
