After a 3-year forced break, IWA OutdoorClassics 2022, the leading international trade fair for hunting, shooting sports, outdoor and security, has made a solid return to the German city of Nuremberg. At Pulsar, we started preparing for this event long ago. Over a year back, to be precise. Yet, until the last minute, we were not sure if this adventure would happen due to the Covid restrictions and, later, due to the massive shock after the war in Ukraine broke. We decided to go, although a lot of uncertainty was in the air. It turns out that was the best decision, because, at the end of the day, you realize that only by doing what you’re best at you can make a positive change. A change that nowadays is more needed than ever.
To some of us, the IWA first-timers, it felt exciting and scary at the same time. Nonetheless, the mixed feelings were gone by the end of the first day. And then the real fun began! Although we brought a record number (13!) of new Pulsar devices to the exhibition, it wasn’t only about showing our pride or competing with the rivals. First and foremost, it was crucially important to get the actual feedback of actual Pulsar device users. We wanted to feel the pulse of the audience.
Being the manufacturer of thermal devices and proudly carrying the “Made in Europe” flag, we always aim for honesty and openness. We learn from our mistakes to be able to innovate and present the best of the thermal there is. Having said that, you guys, have turned our days at IWA into one priceless experience!
As the organizers of the exhibition noted, the pleasure of being able to meet with customers and business partners in person was palpable throughout the exhibition halls. It was clear just how great the demand and interest in an in-person event had been.
Let’s put the shyness away – we were spoiled by the attention of the media as well. It was like reliving a kind of star -moment a few times during the 4 exhibition days.
The cherry on top of that cake – the Pulsar stand received an unofficial “Top5 best booths at the IWA exhibition” award by the TFBTV (video wing of The Firearm Blog).
The show host and executive producer James Reeves, aka @gunshorts, returned to the Pulsar stand a few times and was keen on praising not only our devices, which he eagerly tried himself, but also the professionalism of the people that were working behind the stands. In the end, James Reeves decided he desperately needed the new Merger LRF XP50 binoculars for his camping adventures and maybe some thermal gear too.
The Merger stand was probably the one that drew the most attention. Although the range of new Pulsar riflescopes – from our flagman Thermion 2 line to the compact-sized Talion – also got a fair share of visitors. Meanwhile, the local German audience was showing immense interest in the extended line of Axion 2’s (the use of riflescopes for hunting is not yet allowed in this country).
The numbers are as follows: the comeback of IWA drew 19,500 trade visitors representing 111 countries. Compared to the previous exhibitions held before the pandemic, a decline is obvious. The absence of some big brands was also evident. Still, the Pulsar stand was never empty. On the contrary, we rarely had a minute to rest. No wonder, the week after the IWA to many of us was a… blur. But going through the photos and emails of newly made friends brings us back to the 4 days filled with adrenaline, fresh ideas and conversations shared.
Before purchasing any night or thermal vision device, please make sure you adhere to the local legislation and only use it when it is allowed. Our ambassadors come from various countries and travel a lot, which allows them to test different devices. We do not encourage or support the illegal use of our devices in any events.
