Some of the best chances to see animals don’t come on clear, sunny days. They happen when fog rolls in, when light rain starts falling, or when you’re deep in the woods and there’s barely any light left. That’s exactly when the Krypton 2 line shows what it’s made of.

“When the weather got bad, the Krypton 2 didn’t blink,” – that’s how Claus Sloth Andersen from Denmark described one of his early mornings out hunting with the Krypton 2. “It had rained lightly overnight, and the fog was rolling in from the seaside. Visibility was terrible – the kind of morning where you’d normally just stay in bed.“
Despite the bad conditions, Claus decided to rely on the Krypton 2 thermal capabilities. Designed for tough environments, the device proved its worth that morning: “I had the Krypton 2 mounted and powered up, and what I saw through the thermal device changed everything. The sensor cut through the fog and haze. Not like it was not there, but it definitely gave me an edge in how far I was able to see. Without thermal, there’s no way I would have been able to see that far.“ As Claus sums it up: “Although no thermal device can completely see through heavy fog and rain, the Krypton 2 significantly improves visibility under such conditions.“
Unlocking a sixth sense
With the Krypton 2, you get a sharp, detailed thermal image – even in total darkness or when game is hiding in thick cover due to its high-sensitivity thermal sensor and precision-crafted lens.
Claudia Breit from Germany used it to hunt for smaller game like foxes and put it simply: “The extra detail and detection range made a real difference in ensuring I was making the right decision before taking the shot.“
Claus also added up: “One night last season, I was set up along the edge of a cut cornfield, watching the forest line, about 200 meters away. I’ve been looking for deer and would use the darkness as cover to observe them.“
“I used the Krypton 2 XG50 as a spotter, and right away, I noticed how clean and sharp the image was compared to some of the other thermal spotters I’ve tried. The new sensor and lens combination gives you shape, texture and movement in.“
He summed up: “instead of straining to pick out a deer silhouette at dusk, I can now see the distinct outline of its body, even when it’s bedded down or partially obscured by trees. The ability to detect movement and presence without sound or light feels like unlocking a sixth sense.“
Built for comfort
The Krypton 2 design is compact and well-balanced, something hunters really feel during long stalks.
Thanks to its compact size, lightweight build, and even weight distribution, the Krypton 2 doesn’t throw off the balance when attached to a riflescope or spotting scope. Also, its quick-change rechargeable IPS7 battery pack delivers up to 11 hours of continuous power. The wireless, quick-release design makes swapping batteries easy, but with this kind of runtime, you might not even need to. That kind of reliability is a real win when you’re deep in the woods and far from a power source. “That’s a huge bonus when you’re moving through rough terrain or on your feet all day,“ Claus says.
Quick to attach, easy to use
One of the standout features of the Krypton 2 is how quickly and easily it mounts using the PSP-B bayonet adaptor.
“There’s no fumbling, no over-complication,” Claus explains. “Just use the quick attachment and go”. He also adds that “it doesn’t mess with your rifle’s zero” – the four-point bayonet connection is secure and solid, letting you switch the Krypton 2 between scopes without hassle.
Christian Rysgaard from Denmark adds an important point: “Anything added to the front of a scope means checking your zero.” In practice, the Krypton 2 maintains excellent alignment once mounted, but for those seeking maximum precision, the device also allows for fine-tuning. The PSP-B adaptor includes a mechanism for slight adjustments, ensuring the thermal image lines up perfectly with your daytime optics for the most accurate shooting experience.
Shines in the worst visibility and the roughest terrain
The Krypton 2 stands out in the most challenging hunting environments, which are key to the best hunting sessions. “I’m talking dense brush, broken timber, and wide-open fields under pitch-black skies – places where visibility is awful, and the wild game can disappear in seconds,“ – says Claus.
