When it comes to choosing a riflescope, its performance is key. But to ensure you make the best out of it, ergonomics is vital. That’s why, when creating our Pulsar Talion riflescope, we focused on its ease of use a lot. Of course, we wanted the internal components to match your needs best, so we made two versions with different sensors – XQ38 and XG35. Now that our brand ambassadors have tried and tested both of them in the field, we’re pleased to share their feedback with you.

Supreme ergonomics
The ease of use, comfort, and ergonomics of the device are especially important over the long term. If you’re planning to spend long hours in the field or the forest, going after a quick and witty animal, you don’t wish to worry about looking for certain buttons you need, changing the battery, or finding your focus. When using Talion, you don’t need to think about the device. All you need to do is focus on your goal.
And we’re pleased to report that our brand ambassadors mention supreme ergonomics as the first thing that comes to mind when talking about the Talion. “With its new design, the Talion is Pulsar’s most ergonomic riflescope ever, and that says a lot since I think Pulsar is already on the forefront in this area,” says Night Vision Viking from Sweden.
“The ergonomics is among the most important features of the new Pulsar Talion,” says Erica Victoria Egonsson, another Pulsar ambassador from Sweden. “It makes the device super easy to use.”
Among the innovations that make Talion so easy to use is the menu wheel that we’ve placed on top of the device, close to the eyepiece. Erica notes it’s one of her favorite aspects of the new riflescope, while her almost-neighbor Stefan Orman notes the importance of the device being ambidextrous: “Ambidextrous and compact design make the Talion an extremely user-friendly, all-round stalking scope.”

The focus ring
“The new focus ring is a brilliant design I hope to see on more Pulsar devices,” says Night Vision Viking, but if you haven’t had the Talion in your hands yet, let us tell you a little bit more about it.
The precise focusing adjustment has an integrated fin lever that is set to match the protruding ridge on the housing of the Talion riflescope when focusing reaches the 70 meters (76 yards) mark. It enables quick and correct focusing, even without looking at the riflescope. Why 70 meters? Because our practice says, it’s the ideal nighttime shooting distance.
But both Erica and Stefan note that the focusing ring has an additional benefit. “I also love that I can use the focusing ring to get a somewhat of a range estimation,” says Stefan. Please note, however, that Talion does not have an integrated rangefinder, so the estimation is fairly rough, and the accuracy depends a lot on the terrain and your own ability to judge the distance.

Unique design
If you look at our product range, you’ll immediately notice that Talion is our most compact riflescope yet. This, in turn, makes it the most lightweight. The sleek and smooth design makes it modern and classic at the same time, while the sturdy housing ensures it’s shock and water-resistant. Night Vision Viking also adds that the smooth body contributes to Talion’s longevity as “there aren’t really any moving parts to break.”
Stefan calls the design of the riflescope “perfect” and specifies the small weight as one of his favorite features. Erica agrees, telling us that “the weight and size of the Talion make it exceptional in close encounters with wild boars”.

It will be a great choice for wild boar hunters or hunters who need to be able to move a lot. The wide field of view gives you some real close-range capabilities from 10 to 150 meters. And the NETD <40 mK helps to produce an alright awareness of the terrain even in heavy fog.

Ideal for close distances
Erica, Stefan and Night Vision Viking all have different shooting styles, but they all agreed Talion is great for shooting from up close. We asked them to tell us who they think would enjoy the new riflescope the most, and here’s Erica’s answer: “Talion will be perfect for everyone who wants a scope that is easy to use, lightweight, and works on distances up to 120 meters.”
Stefan elaborated slightly further: “It will be a great choice for wild boar hunters or hunters who need to be able to move a lot while protecting farmers’ crops within a close range of fewer than 70 meters. The wide field of view in both the XQ and XG versions gives you some real close-range capabilities from 10 to 150 meters. And the NETD <40 mK helps to produce an alright awareness of the terrain even in heavy fog. This is important for taking safe shots with a backstop. It’s also an extremely good choice for younger or smaller hunters that might not be super strong.”
And last but not least, the price. While you should contact your local distributor for an exact number, here’s what Night Vision Viking says about it: “In terms of ”bang for the buck” I’m sure the new Talion XQ38 will be second to none in 2022.”
