Even poor weather conditions did not stop Night Vision Viking from trying out the Telos LRF XL50. He notices that this model is the best choice for summer time, since it is able to capture even the smallest details of the vibrant nature. It depends on the conditions in which one chooses to use it, but overall, this monocular can be called an irreplaceable companion.
When it comes to device quality, it’s often important to discuss it in relation to other models. “I have no better suggestions,” says Night Vision Viking, when the talk turns to the ergonomics, controls and the new features, like haptic feedback or display dimming. “With the vibration buttons, it’s a huge improvement! Image wise this is on the top of the scale,” he adds.

Nathan Stuart: echoes from Australia
Telos has been tested even in the Australian climate! Hunter from there, Nathan Stuart, firstly noticed the sharpness of the image and the sensible button layout on the device. “An LRF is nearly mandatory now in my equipment load out for thermal hunting and pest control,” he says. Nathan observed that the entire XL50 line has a fantastic image, and the Telos LRF XL50 is no exception with the 1024×768 resolution sensor. “If you want or need the best image possible in your thermal device, the XL line is it!” advises Nathan.
For him, this would be the most innovative monocular he has used when viewing through the eyepiece. Compared to the XP50 at ranges under 200-300 meters, the improvement with the XL50 is there. But, extend that range to 300-800 meters and that’s where the XL50 really shines with the denser pixels matching the display resolution.

Riccardo Tamburini: the insights of an Italian hunter
“Unbelievable” is the first word that came to Riccardo’s mind when talking about the new star of the monocular range. His first impression was that its clarity and the image definition are better than Merger LRF XL50, probably due to the smaller display, because it better covers some natural constraints, like pixelation and image noise. He was especially impressed by the image quality while zooming in on the animals – it remains clear and detailed even on high magnification levels.
Riccardo truly trusts this product and recommends it to anyone who loves high-end devices, considering the overall performances. “I have a detailed image at any magnification, at any distance,” notices Riccardo.
When talking about the technical aspects, Riccardo compares the performance of the two devices: Telos LRF XP50 and Telos LRF XL50. The first one, due to its incredibly low NETD value, is a superb device at short-mid distance. Probably, its image quality can be compared with XL, but XL wins because it can have the same amount of detail, also increasing the base magnification. “I’m testing the zoom at different distances and I can say that at around 150 metres the image is the same as at 50,” says the hunter, who was able to easily evaluate the class age of a mouflon ram at 150 metres.
