The brand-new Merger LRF XP35 thermal imaging binoculars come in a more compact and lightweight housing than their predecessor, the Merger LRF XP50.
This makes them a great device to carry on a longer trip and ready to prove their thermal image class whenever an unexpected encounter occurs, which is exactly what happened to a group of hunters exploring the wildlife near a Srní mountain village in Czech Republic.
They were aware of what to expect at a wolf reservation, yet the thought of observing a group of apex predators at a very close range was very mesmerizing to them.
The story begins with hunters wandering around the forest, knowing that the wolves might be somewhere around. The observation area in the wolf reservation had a wooden bridge, which rises above a rocky forest landscape where the wolves live. This was an excellent place to observe the animals in real nature conditions.
When the wolves suddenly appeared in front of the observers, it seemed like they were only a stone’s throw away. At one point the animals were walking right under the bridge, on which a group of people were trying to stay quiet.
Luckily, one of the observers pushed the record button on the Merger LRF XP35, preserving proof of this magnificent encounter.
Although it was drizzling slightly, and you could feel humidity in the air, the thermal binoculars proved helpful in detecting and observing the wolves among the dense vegetation of the forest.
It was the wide field of view on the Merger LRF XP35 that allowed them to record great footage of them nearing the bridge from a further distance. As you will see in the videos, the observers tried playing around with different color palettes deciding the RED HOT was best for detecting the animals.
While the different sensitivity amplification levels proved to be a handful to cut through the humidity.
