The newest Merger LRF XT50 thermal imaging binoculars are leaving its first users blown away. Why? Three European hunters emphasise its spectacularly detailed HD image, an extra-wide FOV and the amazing all-round performance.
A fresh addition to the Merger family, the Merger LRF XT50 boasts the largest sensor of Pulsar thermal imaging binoculars up to date and ensures unrivalled excellence.
Thanks to its 1280×1024 @ 12µm sensor, the newest unit offers extreme quality even from far away and in severe weather conditions.
A huntress from Germany, Claudia Breit, enthusiastically confirms this: “The premium HD sensor is outstanding and offers amazing image quality. I can spot animals several kilometres away – it’s incredibly far-reaching!”
Riccardo Tamburini, a passionate hunter from Italy, adds that the quality of the image using the base magnification is simply magnificent.

Sporting an extra-wide FOV of 17.5 °, the Merger LRF XT50 ensures no hot object escapes your sight.
According to Riccardo, the super-wide FOV of the device took him by surprise: “The FOV is incredibly wide and having it helps you to understand your surroundings. For example, during my test, I identified a red stag and counted the number of his very short antler points, more than 150 m away from me. At the same time, while I was focusing on this animal, I was able to detect another stag at around 300 m due to the incredible quality of the background image.”
Stefan Orman, a Swedish hunter, continues that it’s important to mention the amazing detection range of the binoculars – 2300 m. He notices that the whole combination of features guarantees a sky-high performance of the Merger LRF XT50.
“To me, the mash-up of a wide FOV and an extreme detection range sets the new premium standard. Historically you had to choose from either a long-range unit or close-range devices. But with an insanely large sensor with a tight pixel pitch, you have the best of both worlds, and the FOV just blows you away”, says Stefan.
The newest Merger LRF XT50 is also equipped with a digital image stabilization feature which helps avoid motion blur, ensuring a more comfortable observation of distant objects.
Claudia notes that for her, this is crucial: “The feature ensures I safely identify the animals and guarantees extreme details, which is absolutely necessary.”
According to Riccardo, the digital image stabilization also helps to empower the device’s optical magnification: “It allows you to take advantage of the zoom due to the steady, detailed image. Altogether, I could get every small detail of an animal even from far away, throughout the whole magnification range of 2x-16x.”
Talking about comfort, the powerful Merger LRF XT50 conveniently fits in the hand and is built with the classic design of daytime binoculars. Moreover, the six function buttons are placed in the comfort access zone and the most used digital device functions are activated with a single touch, ensuring an ergonomic experience.
Claudia comments that even though the design of the thermal imaging binoculars reminds her of other Merger models, it still stands out of the pack.

After going over its features, one thing is clear: the Merger LRF XT50 is perfect for hunting in forested areas, where FOV is vital. It’s also great for aiming at tiny, swift targets from great distances.
The German huntress continues that she would recommend the Merger LRF XT50 to hunters who need to be completely sure about the animal they’re identifying, especially in family groups like wild boars.
“I’m really loving this device, especially for night stalk hunting”, she adds.
Stefan finally says that every pro user who requires nothing but the best should have the Merger LRF XT50 in mind.
“The massive FOV is awesome for close-up jobs, and the exceptional detection range is perfect for long-range identification. It’s impossible to stay away from this device, because it covers any need you can think of and makes everything else feel like a toy”, notices the Swedish hunter.
